ABOUT KARMA KETTLE
Karma Kettle’s travels with teas began right in the heart of gorgeous tea country. A British tea-planter’s bungalow surrounded by three legendary Darjeeling tea estates gave the inspiration of a lifetime to Dhiraj Arora, Karma Kettle’s co-founder, sparking a passion for tea that is now an obsession.
Dhiraj set about restoring Cochrane Place (www.cochraneplacehotel.com) in Kurseong, turning it into a 31-room boutique heritage hotel and, before you could say ‘chai’, he had opened the first specialized tea bar and boutique in the Darjeeling region- ‘Chai Country’ served up to 50 different varieties of teas & tea blends and won several awards and accolades. Clearly, here was a passion that was widely shared and which many wanted indulged, brew by brew and blend by blend.
For the next part of the tea journey, Dhiraj was joined by Priti, a hospitality industry professional who shared his enthusiasm for food, tea, wine and travel.
Tea lovers and compulsive travelers that they are, their travels introduced them to teas far and wide, from Spain to China and from Marrakech to Benares. They decided to start Karma Kettle in 2013 to carry back those flavours and pour out their travels into a tea cup, bringing you the original texture and signature aromas of some of the most memorable teas of the world — because the story of a place is best brewed in a tea cup.
Now to the specifics-Dhiraj is a Tea Specialist from the World tea Academy, USA and is a certified Tea sommelier. He spends his most of his time obsessively working on creating new blended tea varietals. He is passionate about teas that taste great. Priti spends most of her time in designing and packaging Karma Kettle’s fabulous tea blends. With the help of a young, diverse and motivated team in Kolkata we are now ready to showcase our teas to the world!
